Printing Pride: Stories in Ink – Printmaking Workshop Series and Exhibition

A welcoming six-session printmaking program for LGBTIQA+ people and allies aged 18+. Across three workshop blocks, participants will learn new techniques, develop imagery and create finished artworks. No experience is required and all materials are provided.

 

Weeks 1 & 2 - Fri 22nd & Sun 23rd Jan 11am-3.30pm – Screen Printing: Learn the screen-printing process, develop bold imagery, create stencils, expose photos or drawings onto screens, and print designs on paper and fabric.

 

Weeks 3 & 4 - Fri 29th & Sun 31st Jan - 11am -3.30pm - Lino Printing: Design and transfer an image onto lino, learn safe carving techniques, explore line and pattern, and print a small edition using a press.

 

Weeks 5 & 6 - Fri 5th & Sun 7th Feb 11am-3.30pm - Drypoint Etching: Create an etched plate, explore mark-making and texture, learn how to ink, wipe and print the plate, and prepare selected works for exhibition at Woods Street Arts Space, Laverton.

Participants will gain three printmaking skills, produce multiple original artworks, build creative confidence and have the opportunity to exhibit at Woods Street Arts Space from 19 February to 9 March 2027.

This project was proudly supported by Creative City Hobsons Bay.

The final session will also include selecting and preparing artworks for the public exhibition at Woods Street Arts Space.

4 hours 30 minutes x 6 Weeks

You will learn

  • How to create art work and stencils for screen printing.
  • How to carve and print a Lino plate.
  • How to create dry point etching prints.

You will get

  • A series of completed prints on paper and fabric.
  • Three new printmaking skills, multiple original artworks and the opportunity to exhibit your work.
  • Afternoon tea, coffee, tea and soft drinks.

What to bring

  • A selection of images and drawings for screen printing, not compulsory.
  • Your enthusiam.

What to wear

What ever you like. It might get messy, aprons provided.

Anna Kolusniewski, a seasoned costume and jewelry designer, founded "Aa is for Art" in Melbourne's inner west after a successful career in the fashion industry. She now leads term-based visual arts programs for children and workshops for adults, while also teaching at various institutions throughout Melbourne.

She also believes creativity has a calming effect on children and builds confidence through a sense of achievement, she loves inspiring children to push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of to send them to next level.

You’re welcome to send someone in your place.
